Prostatodynia – Prostate Pain

Prostatodynia is the term for pain that emanates from the prostate.  Depending upon the age of the individual, it is reported to range from about 9.7-12.6%.  Like the symptom of proctalgia, prostatodynia is usually described as a deep burning or aching pain.  Frequently, pain emanating from the prostate is diagnosed clinically as “prostatitis“, an inflammatory condition of the prostate which is usually caused by a local infection.
